Two Worlds

Freezing water trickles down the damp moss
Bushes rustle as lizards peek out.
Pebbles crinkle and crackle under my shoe.
Two birds start a conversation up in the trees.
Chirp… Caww… Chirp
Engines turn off around the city. Chsssh.
A hurricane of voices and footsteps.
Thick, polluted air. In my nose. On my face.
Bells jangle and jingle as doors open and close.
Cars and motorbikes accelerate past me. Vroom.
The wind howls like an angry sibling.
Branches slam against each other. They fight.
Fresh air blasts past me and makes the leaves dance..
I kick a rock. It tumbles away until silent.
Nature is full of sounds.
A fountain splashes casting a rainbow. Splish, splash.
A robotic voice announces: “Next stop Central”.
The train starts again. Tired. Not enough rest.
Soft music dances through a cafe door.
The city is full of sounds.
