His name was Alex, no ordinary person,
He was known as Abnormal Alex,
No friends or family and all he had was a box filled with his belongings.
He owned a little blanket which signified his land, a sign and an empty milo tin.
Alex lived a away from the ocean and decided to set his land up at the beach,
Just to try and see if he could get any money for lunch.

Alex walked off the steps,
Tasting the salt of the ocean,
Feeling the warm sand in between his toes,
Hearing the waves dance, like they were right in front of him,
Smelling the fabric softer on the towel wrapped around him,
Seeing shadows, going left to right.

He sat down, a few coins fell into his tin,
Some then and there, but nothing significant.
Nothing enough to buy him lunch still,
Just enough to buy a small serve of chips from the fish and chip shop.
A fashionable lady came to him and read his sign.
Alex felt the lady’s shoes, she wore fashionable sandals with velvet.

After the lady picked up his sign all Alex could hear was: Plonk, Plonk, Plonk!
Money started raining in like a thunderstorm,
Velvet shoes came back so Alex asked, “What did you do to my sign?”
“I just added a few words to it,” the lady stated.
The lady left and money kept coming in and it never stopped.
Little did Alex know the new sign said ‘I think it’s a beautiful day, may I please see it.’
