The Class of Beauty

The light at dusk washing over the buildings
Brainwashing them to believe it’s night
They say beauty comes from within
But the beauty in a Lilly Pilly is so strong it shines from the outside
Inspiring the world to its full potential
They say you can't buy happiness
And for the first time in 12 years, I believe it
I believe you can only plant happiness
I was born in the west
The only plants and trees and flowers
I knew of were either artificial or self seeded on the side of the road
Until I moved here, my home
And I saw how you could drive 25 minutes and be in a protected National Park
Overflowing with beauty
My favourite child activist once said
‘I wish people would stop saying ‘I’m going out to nature’ when you can just go outside
Or connect with other people, WE ARE NATURE!’
As beautiful as the friendship, trust and bonds
shared between the insects in the forests
made from the poems we’ve written
