The Big Day

Adrenalin running through my vein,
The ball seeking me out like a missile to its target
Big fella running as fast as lightning straight at me,
Had no choice but to tackle him,
Bang! Hit by a bus.
Spare tyre sits on me,
I’m still seeing little blue birds,
People’s voices echoing
All around me,
“Get up you dizzy doof”.
So there I was out on the wing,
Waiting for the ball to come to me.
Intercept, Albert's coming,
He passes the ball, dodges see.
Just a few broken arms,
Black eyes worn with pride.
Rugby League what a battle,
Carry the ball through the other side.
Running for the other goal,
Sidestepped Albert, got there see.
Not a bloody forward pass,
Put down,
The crowd starts buzzing like bees,
Arms waving like the trees
