The dim clouds overtook the warmth of the sun,
It caused a gloomy shadow to blanket the ground
Over the disfigured village, the damage cannot be undone.
A survivor stared cluelessly at the remnants of the merry-go-round
She thought, ‘why are all these people asleep in the day?’
As she haltered at the sight of bodies on the ground so scare
They were right here but felt so far away
Their souls had left the battleground of chaos and despair
The survivor fell upon the state of her only home,
She knelt down as tears flowed down her quivering cheek
And held her dead mother’s hand in her own
Their storge love so strong though she felt so weak
Her raggy clothing soaked in the bloody stains
As she cried, “Why did you leave me, mum?”
The coldness of her mother’s flesh seeped through her veins
And she felt her fingers loosen and become numb
Though the young survivor wasn’t alone
She realized she isn’t on her own
She had a promise to keep
And miles to go before sleep
