Raining

I open my eyes, looking into the sky.
Clouds above me, a puzzle so high.
They slowly turn grey, one by one.
Covering up the big, bright sun.
The birds are tweeting along to the sound
Of the raindrops splashing all around.
In the pouring rain, people are dashing.
To the roar of rain, like cymbals crashing.
Slowly, the clouds are going away.
but the wet rain is here to stay.
Annoying for some people, but a gift for the plants,
As in the middle of the puddles, they seem to dance.
A colourful rainbow stretches across the sky,
Surrounded by happy birds that fly,
At the top of gum trees that are high as towers,
Covered in nuts and pretty flowers.
From his hole, an echidna comes out,
And kids in boots are splashing about
Platypuses come out from their river home
Like a safe little underground zone.
