The old shady gum tree

Is where I sit and read,

The shady old gum tree

Is where I laugh and sing.

The shady old gum tree,

Where the leaves sit and rest,

On the old flimsy branches

That are ready to rest.

The shady old gum tree,

Has stayed for a while

But its time for it to go,

Into its retirement.

To the shady old gum tree,

We say goodnight,

The last time we ever saw you,

Was last night.

To the shady old gum tree,

The flowers bloom in your place

Sad to see them shine,

Instead of your beautiful face.
