Fiercely stout

A thick black coat

Carefully, she cocks an ear

Rain collects around her whiskers

Wet nose and teeth for fear

Waiting in her scavenged den

Eyes slits, claws sharp

Waiting for a meal

In this forest full of whispers

She steps into the last sundown light

Revealing her white stripe

Yawns a mouth of tongue and fangs

And trots off into the night

An unlucky hare is the first she sees

soon there's nothing left

She growls a screech of glee

But her hunger's not suppressed
