every day is a poem of beauty

waiting to be unfolded haikus in aromas,

of eucalyptus and woodsy wattle

just by your bated breath

you hold the duty of a poet

the observer of stanzas that write themselves out

the mirrors of your beauty as a human

lies in the meadows of the world.

your smile flies with the golden-shouldered parrots

your cheekbones wave with the acacias

your hands carved like the red earth of ant mounds

if you were to question your beauty,

breathe, and find your worth

in the world around you
