I look at my reflection in the tiny mirrors,

the delicate drops on my leaf tickles me,

feeling as if I’m not a lonely tree anymore,

as the world turns from a luscious green bush with rushing water trailing through the jungle, leaving imprints on the rocks,

to the grey concrete forest that everyone needs to know as home

CRASH!

water rushes through my roots, providing a new source of nutrients for me,

I’m not a normal tree, a tree that gets chopped for wood after the first few years it was alive,

I’m a protector, an Elder, I rely heavily on water to survive

I’m a gum tree, I need water, water needs me.
