As he lay there, gazing at the stars he wonders,
The stars are unconfined, unrestrained, and unbound,
Bright and mesmerising.

He’s trapped but could travel to the moon and back.
He has all of the friends in the world but is the loneliest of them all.
He has the coolest toys but suffers from boredom.
He has everything and nothing at the same time.

He tries to run but is always pulled back
Going in circles, forever on a track
As he watches he wishes to be a tree, free in the cool breeze
It's like people love him the way they love the stars only when they are out

He wants to have everything to fill that void
He tries and tries but nothing is enough to sustain
Every day it is expanding
Soon he will run out slowly giving up

Every day is a battle costing a fortune
He wants to throw it all away,
To start again,
To run and be free to the end of the world.

As he lay there, gazing at the stars he wonders,
The stars are unconfined, unrestrained, and unbound,
Bright and mesmerising.
